Great Balls of Fire, Zooomr’s Discover Just Got a Heck of a Lot Hottter

Discover

Goodness gracious, great balls and all that. Kristopher just shot me over a link to the latest enhancement on Zooomr and this is definitely one of the best ones yet and represents the best way that I’ve ever seen to find great photography on the internet on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis.

One of the new features that I was most excited about with our new Zooomr Mark III launch was the “Discover” section on Zooomr. With Zooomr Discover, we use an algorithm based on 28 different characteristics to determine the relevancy and awesomeness of a photograph.

By analyzing each and every photograph that is uploaded to Zooomr we can serve up a selection of kick ass photos for you to check out. With discover we built 5 time periods and ranked the top 20 photos in each of these 5 time periods.

Photos uploaded in the last hour, the last day, the last week, the last month and the last year.

We then took this one step further and built screens for you to filter these photos by everyone, only your contacts, only your friends and family, and only your own photos. (You have to be logged into Zooomr in order to filter by friends and contacts).

This was good but Discover was limited to only 20 photos in any given time period.

Well now Kristopher has expanded Discover and linked the various Discover headings so that you can pull up *100* thumbnails at a time representing the best photos on Zooomr.

Give it a shot and try it out. I think you will agree that the Zooomr algorithm is producing some of the best photography that you are going to see anywhere on the internet today. And if you haven’t signed up for Zooomr yet, please do. I’d love to see and fave some of your photos on the Discover pages of Zooomr soon.

Awesome! Oh, look! My grasshopper photo is in the top 100! Wow, I never would have known. I think this is a great addition to the site. ;)

That would be great and all if the rest of zooomr worked. I went to check it out. Clicked on a thumbnail in the top 100 of last week to bring it up in lightbox…and…still waiting…

Also still waiting on RSS, ability to add contacts so I can see other peoples ziplines (It be much cooler if I could see people other than myself…oh that’s right..I can…if I could add contacts…), ability to merge accounts….

    Oh yeah…and that promised API…

Maybe you should get Kristopher to work on what’s been promised first. I love what Zooomr could be….

Hi. My PictureSync and JUploadr doesn’t uploads photos anymore. They are send me a error message every time when I try to upload some pics.
    What is happening with that?

too bad the majority of what is coming up right now is half naked lesbians. some might be ok with that, yet it’s enough to make me not want to use this site…

what an amazing array of new features! it would be nice to have a bit of geeky stuff into the algorithm magic!!!

andrea: haven’t seen the lesbians you were complaining about, perhaps you were looking for them? lol
only teasing, but personally haven’t seen anything offensive being ’shown to me’.

Of all the upgrades that need to be done and this is the one that is choosen.

I cant even post to my zip line working most of the time.

Not some thing I would normally recommend but why dont you get adverts up on the site so you actually get some money to buy more server power!!

I would support you with a pro account if I knew it was going to last longer than a month.

Why are you all moaning? Zooomr is not costing you anything, Zooomr is not trying to sell you stuff with annoying banner adverts, this is free.
I cant wait until its all working 100% but until then I think we all need a little patience.
(now where do I find the half naked lesbians)

C’mon guys. Lots of stuff is up and running. Zipline works pretty well and Discover is just amazing. One can also have some fun in groups… and i’m sure we’ll see some more new features this week.

Yes it is free, but there are other free services out there. The reasons we are here is that we want to use Zooomr but it is not fully functional.

What is today’s date? And when was the Zoomr III supposed to launch? And when did it really launch — I mean at least the photos are viewable, uploadable. etc.
3 weeks after the originally announced launch date (it’s still there on zooomr home - May 21!), several “official” pages still cannot be found, the no tagging available, the sets cannot be seen, uploading is still done one by one,….. These are just the basic functions that one would expect from a photo site. And yet these guys put aside the basics to go after the fancy stuff.
From a few days ago, I started to believe that Zoomr is actually a hobby of somebody, and cheered up by his small group of fans. It’s not meant for the public, may be.

It would be better if the smart sets wouldn’t be empty anymore…

    Whoopee-doo.

No we can see the sets that the system generates, but we can’t see our own.

More work on the icing, while the cake beneath goes mouldy.

discover is great, but it would be better if i could actually see pictures from specific contacts i have…not just from some who has lots of pics…

It’s so nice to see the Zooomr, “global” community hanging together while Kris, a one-man, not 10,000 man operation create a site with a passion for networking people and photography together. Whether it be working through many sleepness nights or at times, working with limited resources, Kris and Thomas continue to strive to improve on a vision for the greatest photo sharing site around the world, for “free”. It’s absolutely awesome what can be created when someone has such passion for what they love to do. I support you Kris and Thomas and thank you for not losing heart when there are people who obviously need another arena to vent…I’d like to see them try and do what you guys have done single-handedly. Kudos, guys…
