Zooomr Mark III is Born

[GREEN UPDATE 03:45a PDT: We should be okay for a bit — Once Thomas wakes up, we’re going to head down to the datacenter… Thanks for your support — kristopher ]

[UPDATE 01:03a: I’m traffic shaping the huge amount of requests that are coming into the system — please bear with us, thanks! — kristopher]

Well birth usually involves labor pain and this baby has been one heck of a birth. But Kristopher and I are pleased to announce that Zooomr Mark III has arrived.

There are so many people to thank for making Mark III possible. I’m reluctant to even try… but Dave Sifry, Robert Scoble, Michael Arrington, Raju and everyone at Zoho, Michael Dell and Dell Computer, Sun Microsystems, John Furrier and Podtech, Ben Metcalfe, Caroline, hdiwan, Denise, Johnnie and UStream, Rev Dan Catt, Heather, Shawn Sorichetti, Steve Cohen, Jeremiah Owyang and so many, many other people. Everyone who has been hanging out with us the past week online as we’ve launched most of all. You have no idea how important your support was to making this happen. You are the Zooomr Community. You have been our advocates, always patient and understanding. We will never forget the love you shared with us this past week. It’s truly been and will continue to be fun.

Please bear with us in the next week as we fix as many bugs as we can. If you have bugs please report them in the help forum here.

And I’ll say it for you:

“Dear users, please excuse uss for the interruption of our service! We’ll try to keep zooomr online from now on! Thank you for your great patience!”

  13. man Says:

    Hm… offline again.

  14. CJ Says:

Is it down again? I thought I was in about 10 min ago but as soon as I got in it seemed to crash (this happened last time as well - maybe I am a jinx?)

  15. Cédric Says:

    simply splendid, great work !

  16. cat Says:

great thing, but don’t get the chance to login, for it is offline now.

  17. Roger Kondrat Says:

I am sorry to harp on about this but people are just waking up in the UK and most of America is asleep so the Privacy is so HUGE that I would absolutely blog access to the pictures right now.

This is a huge liability issue from a legal stand point too.

As well getting it done soon won’t be soon enough if google’s spider gets my pictures and cache’s it.

How upset I will be should my personal images get passed around the internet is difficult to imagine at this point but needless to say it will be very very disappointing.

That being said, my gf and past gfs will go ballistic (very unhappy) if their images are passed around the web.

Before anyone gets excited in this group there are no nude pictures so don’t waste your time, but that doesn’t change the private nature of them.

Kris… You must block all access (except for embeded images on blogs) to our images until you can fix the privacy issue, this is not a run and fix ‘live’ issue!!!!

    I cannot stress this enough.

  18. Carl Says:

I love the new look and choices. But now I notice that juploadr v.1.1.2 is having problems with it, as it reports a 404 error when I try to get it to authorise to zooomr.
I hope you guys can work with the guys who created juploadr to iron out this problem.
Or maybe you can suggest a new bulk uploader that wotks with this amazing new version of Zooomr.

What an embarrassment - with such technical and professional support, Zooomr still goes down just minutes after launch?

Kris, sell your code to Flickr and move on. Let’s end the embarrassment here.

  25. Alen Says:

Oh c’mon, there is no embarrassment…
Zooomr is the best, even if we have to wait long long time for it…
    we’re with you, Kristopher :)

  26. enough Says:

I’m with jack… couldn’t the load balancing be done before? It’s getting a real soap opera now.

  27. ex-zooomr user Says:

  28. Ian Says:

    Congratulations!!!

  29. Robin Stacey Says:

To the critics: You try doing this. No, really. Then you’ll appreciate the efforts and hard work these guys are putting in - FOR YOU. Stop moaning, already.

I’m been there, done that as both a code jockey and senior partner. There’s only so many 48 hour coding sessions and 4am rollouts a body can take :)

Kris, Thomas. We’re with you and know it’ll be ready when it want to be ready, not before.

  30. nige Says:

well done gents. keep your peckers up and you’ll get it done good & proper eventally.

Hey folks, I’ve been following along quietly the past two weeks, and glad just to be able to log in and see some of the new features.

Kris & Thomas thank you, you’re already heros and visionaries in my book.

  34. Elias Torres Says:

Good job, I know there is a big amount of work next days, good luck and congratulations!

  35. Lloyd Says:

Hey, I’ve got a couple bugs and I would post them into the forum but I can’t (and I post this here if others are having the same problem but are not sure where or how to tell you)!

The reason is I can’t sign up for an account, I fill in all the information here: http://beta.zooomr.com/signup/ but I can never click “Let’s Start This Thing!”, it just does nothing. Also as a side note the link to the terms and conditions on that page goes to a 404.

Either way I know how much you’ve been working on this and I’m sure its great! Hopefully I’ll be able to see for myself when I can join!

  36. Hoshi Says:

Fantastic work Kristopher! Who needs critics anyways. Just created a new account without any flaws. Email login is the shite!!!

  37. Andrew Says:

Hi guys. It seems some people think Zooomr is a flop.. What-ever!! There are bound to be glitches along the way, but we’ve seen the skill and dedication, and the scale of ideas.. that alone has been a great experiance! Ironing this kind of stuff out will make this place the centre of the web for me! Well done KT and Thank you very much indeed.

  38. Charles Says:

Zooomr M3 is amazing. However, my “pro 4 life” is gone…..now I am only a pro member. Is there something wrong about that?

  39. jose87 Says:

No puedo acceder a Zooomr, ¿hay algún problema?

  40. Tasha Says:

Congratulations, guys! It’s been a long, hard couple of weeks for you. I’m looking forward to digging in and seeing all the new things this site has to offer.

Pat yourselves on the backs for getting this done, and GET SOME SLEEP! You’ve got bugs to fix tomorrow. ;)
