Hey Friends, It’s my birthday and I wanted to share some very important information about Zooomr Mark III & Zooomr, as a company.

Official Mark III Roll-Out ETA!

Three weeks. In a week, we’ll be releasing our translation files and letting a select few into our sandbox to try things out. Afterwards, I’ve got some final staging to do and then we’ll officially launch Mark III.

You cannot believe how excited I am about this! (Especially after working 16 hour days for the last 9 months!)

Zooomr: the Company

I have some breaking news to share that may create a period of hiatus for Zooomr: Our initial investor heard we were cash positive and has decided to pull their money out of our accounts.

What does this mean?

As you all know, I’ve been working night and day in solely building and maintaining Zooomr since its conception — In this trust, I will continue to work night and day for our global users. It’s amazing even to me how much I’ve been able to accomplish as One Person.

And, while this will more than certainly hinder any purchasing of new storage systems to scale Mark III, Mark III will most certainly still be released.

In the above interests, we’ve started to look for fresh investment. We know there are angels, VCs and other investors reading our blog - so if you think you can help, please let us know!

Both Thomas Hawk and myself are pleased to be in the company of so many wonderful people every day. So much of what we do everyday is for our users and the many individuals who visit our site on a daily basis. Thank-you for all your support.

We are pleased to note that PictureSync, has become the second bulk uploader to support Zooomr after jUploadr’s original support. There are still some bugs with the service (it displays that your photos failed to upload even when they are in fact uploaded) but we are working with these bugs and hope to have the experience smoothed out shortly. At present they only have a version for the Mac, but are working on a version for Windows and hope to have one out soon.

I’ve been using PictureSync for about a week now with Zooomr and love it. The resizing of images particularly works really well. In addition to Zooomr PictureSync supports about 18 other photosharing sites as well. The software is shareware and is free to try and use, but I quickly paid the $15 to support their work as it’s one of the best uploaders that I’ve ever used. You can download their bulk uploader here.

Freeway Collapse on Highway 580 Eastbound Hosted on Zooomr

Bay Area commuters faced an especially bad commute today and will continue for quite some time due to a collapse of a 580 Overpass on the Bay Bridge yesterday morning. I went by in the morning and got some shots of the wreckage which you can see above. BART is running for free today and has added more cars to handle the extra traffic.

Hey Friends, I’m back from Japan and on my way back to San Francisco! Many of you have wondered why the Zooomr Mark III Release has been delayed and it simply has to do with a 3rd Party Storage Provider being too slow for our liking and ultimately its sluggish response times. The extra time has been spent scaling our in-house infrastructure and recoding ZM3 to use our in-house storage engine, the “ZMD”.

Anyhoo, I’m on my way back to San Francisco right now and will continue to update you as it comes. Please remember that we have introduced UNLIMITED Upload, Archival and storage for your photos — forever! We believe in you guys.
