Zooomr Mark III Finally Launching!

Zooomr

Hi Friends! Today’s the day, we’re going to be launching Zooomr Mark III over the course of 48 Hours from 8am PDT March 13th, 2007 on through March 15th, 2007. Blogged photos will still be available the entire time.

Some brief highlights on Zooomr Mark III:

  • 6 Months in the making
  • Over 250 NEW features, improvements and refinements
  • Sell your photos as stock — you keep 90% of the sale!
  • Unlimited storage and archival for all users — no limits on photo size, either!
  • For developers: An Open API so that you can access all of the richness of Zooomr in your own apps.

And if you think that’s great, just wait until we show you what Zipline is! :)

For both Thomas Hawk and myself, thank-you for making Zooomr what it is today — we’re here to serve you, our community, and look forward to improving how Photo Sharing helps the world communicate.

With Love,

Kristopher

  36. Shwouchk Says:

    Awesome!

I was checking th blog every few hours this last week.

    THANKS!
    shwouchk.

  37. eddie Says:

    @Tom Raftery:

I used a mass flickr exporter (just Google for “Flickr Exporter”) and then imported them using jUploadr to Zooomr, when I did it.

I couldn’t find a good way to transport tags/etc, and unfortunately you’ll lose all your comments (it would be neat if Zooomr let you log in with your Flickr account: that way my Flickr friends could still comment on my photos on Zooomr. ;) ).

Let me know if you find a better solution. :)

We’ve got plans for this. Once we release our Open API on Thursday hopefully we can get a commercial API key from Flickr. They have indicated that when our API is open that they will provide this to us.

  39. eddie Says:

Better plan for import/export or for Flickrites to interact with Zooomr as if they were Zooomr citizenry?

Also (whiny-kid-in-the-backseat-voice): is the migration donnnnnnne yet? :) I’m really eager to start playing. :)

(Take your time. Still, I’m waiting with bated breath. ;) )

  40. nige Says:

    Kris, you da man, man.

    Tom you da man, man.

    looking forward to big things…

  41. genevieve Says:

I can’t wait! This might be what finally snatches me from Flickr.

  42. Lon Says:

I can’t wait! It’s been awesome following the developments, looking forward to trying it all out!

  43. Shwouchk Says:

I must eat my words from earlier, when I said Mark III probably wouldn’t launch before the 15th :).

  44. homestar14 Says:

The wait is killing me!! ;)

Seriously though, great job Kris and everyone else. I can’t wait to try out the new features!

  45. Nelson Says:

    Can’t wait! A question:

Will our photos be compressed in Mark III?

  46. Thomas Hawk Says:

Will our photos be compressed in Mark III?

    Originals will not be.

  47. Andrew Says:

I’m excited about the API linking with Flickr. If Zooomr had a way to migrate tags and photos from Flickr that would go a LONG way to getting people to switch over.

I hope the migration goes well! I can’t wait to see the new MIII this weekend!

  48. ManveL T. Laveaga Says:

Les deseo lo mejor en esta nueva etapa. You gonna have a better place for the internet, really … guys .. good luck !!

Things are looking good so far. I got a question though. How do ya get help on how things work? There doesn’t seem to be a HELP button/link on any of the main pages.

More specifically, I’ve uploaded 300 or so pics from yesterday’s Kite Festival in DC and am trying to figure out how to assign the same set of TAGS to all the photos.

  91. Digital Rebel Says:
