Photowalking Tomorrow Morning at 7 am in Half Moon Bay

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

Ok, so for those of you that live in the Bay Area, tomorrow morning at 7:oo a.m. Robert Scoble and I are going to film another episode of Photowalking. We will be meeting at Sam’s Chowderhouse in Half Moon Bay at 7:00 a.m. for those of you who are brave enough to get up and going that early on a Sunday. If you get in a little late and we aren’t there feel free to either give Robert or me a call on our cell phones. Robert’s cell phone number is 425-205-1921 and mine is 415-205-3611.

I’ve talked to a bunch of photographers who are looking to make the trek. Dave Sifry from Technorati is coming down and Justin from justin.tv said he might make it.

Looking forward to hanging out with anyone who can make it tomorrow and getting some great beach pics.

Looking for a Video-Based Zooomr?

College Humor's Jakob LodwickCollege Humor’s Jakob Lodwick Hosted on Zooomr

While we’re still undecided on if Zooomr should have video functionality, there are some pretty clever video sharing applications to try out there.

Lately, you may have seen me post videos from my newly created Vimeo account — and let it be known that I couldn’t be happier with the service. :)

Thomas Hawk and myself had the pleasure of meeting one of its creators (Jakob Lodwick, above) recently, which makes it even more special.

While sites like YouTube do a good job with video hosting and services, it’s always refreshing to see developing competition that goes well beyond the mark.

If you get a chance, check-out Vimeo and give it a whirl — not only is it promising, it also delivers.

Enjoy,

-Kristopher

ZM3 Sneak Peak: Enhanced Lightbox

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Hey Friends! I know that for some of you, not seeing Mark III yet has been pretty unbearable — trust me, it’s been hard not to see it launch quite yet.

So, as I work on the issues postponing our release, I want to take some of the time to show you sneak peaks into what I’ve been working on for the last six months: first stop, enhanced lightbox!

Lightbox functionality has been one of our strongest features as it allows you to view a larger version of a photograph from the thumbnail view. Our enhanced lightbox now allows you to finally view your photos as a slide show — check-out the video above to see it in action!

Thanks to all who send their love and support — it’s been a hard last few days and your support has been most of what I’ve been working off of. Thank-you.

I’m going to get back to it. :)

With continued love and respect,

-Kristopher

Zooomr Mark III: Update Five! (A Must Read)

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

Hey Friends! I’m still trekking through the Mark III release cycle over here with Resident British Guy Ben Metcalfe.

To keep everyone happy and continually uploading images, we’ve opted to put Zooomr Release Two back up temporarily for a few days while we get all of these Mark III bugs worked out of our system. :)

But, if that weren’t enough, I’m going to drop ALL LIMITS on uploading, storing and archiving the world’s photos. We believe in you guys!

So, with all of that said, expect to see Release Two back up by 9pm PDT.

With continued Love and Respect,

-Kristopher

Zooomr Mark III Mentioned on Information Salad

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

Hey Friends! Still working on it — I finally took your advice and had a nice 8-9 hour nap. Thank-you, I feel refreshed and back in action!

Now then, check-out this podcast mentioning Zooomr Mark III (We’re mentioned at about the one minute mark): Link to Podcast. Thanks Information Salad!

Back to work for me! :)

With love,

Zooomr Mark III: Stage Two Complete

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Hey Friends! I’ve been up almost the entire 48 hours making sure that everyone’s photos and metadata make it over to Mark III safely. Stage Two is complete, but we’re having some slowdowns on the final approach.

Zooomr Mark III Boasts an impressive new search system along side our marketplace — one of the coolest features of marketplace is that we can now search by the overall color of each photograph. This requires intense processing of each photograph, and while we have 5 superfast quad-xeon servers processing multiple batches of photos, it is taking a bit longer than expected.

We’re committed to getting Mark III out as soon as possible, so again, please hold tight. :)

With Continued Love,

Kristopher

Zooomr Mark III Finally Launching!

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

Zooomr

Hi Friends! Today’s the day, we’re going to be launching Zooomr Mark III over the course of 48 Hours from 8am PDT March 13th, 2007 on through March 15th, 2007. Blogged photos will still be available the entire time.

Some brief highlights on Zooomr Mark III:

  • 6 Months in the making
  • Over 250 NEW features, improvements and refinements
  • Sell your photos as stock — you keep 90% of the sale!
  • Unlimited storage and archival for all users — no limits on photo size, either!
  • For developers: An Open API so that you can access all of the richness of Zooomr in your own apps.

And if you think that’s great, just wait until we show you what Zipline is! :)

For both Thomas Hawk and myself, thank-you for making Zooomr what it is today — we’re here to serve you, our community, and look forward to improving how Photo Sharing helps the world communicate.

With Love,

Kristopher

Nothing like some more amazing photos to start your Tuesday off right. I’m continually stunned at the quality of photographs that so many Zooomr photographers put up. Thanks much to all of you.

We are in the final home stretch for Mark III. It’s been fun watching behind the scenes as Kristopher develops it all. Can’t wait until everyone gets to try it.

By the way, I think someone needs a hug here.

Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Years from Zooomr! Welcome to the year of the pig. The pig represents wealth, like the piggy bank.

Thanks to Scott Burns for the great photo!
