How Carina Uses Portals
by Thomas Hawk | 30 January 2007 | Zooomr Highlights | 10 Comments
Carina has a great way to use portals. She does a photo a day and then uses portals in the upper right and left hand corner to portal you through to the previous or next day’s image. Click through on the image above and hover over the top corners of the shot to see what I mean. Very cool Carina… and thanks for the great grasshopper shot.
I also love seeing that Carina is from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Seeing people all over the world share photos is amazing. Make sure that you fill in the city and country that you are from in your profile so that people can see where in the world you are when you comment on photos.

That is a unique idea. I’m relatively new to zooomr (a Flickr refugee; well, more like seeker-of-the-bigger-better), but I’m already amazed by the suite of tools you guys have here, and how to use them.
I made my first ‘portal’ here . It’s really more of an animated gif on mouse-over, but I thought the idea was neat.

P.S. Great work on zooomr! Any news on Mark III, or things like a forum for feedback/suggestions/bug-reports/etc?
Hey, thanks for featuring me on the blog! It’s an honor, really.
Hey there, nice to see some portals!
I attempted to use portals as a way to follow my footsteps while trekking in Nepal in 1991. You can check it out on zooomr here. If you get a chance to check it out, I’d love to hear some feedback.
have a good one!
Hi,
Very creative
Are there any plans to have portals work when the photo is used elsewhere like on a blog versus just at the zooomr site?
regards
Nice photo carina. And the way you use portals i’ts a wonderful idea. It’s great seeing that everyone uses portals in its very own way. There is a lot of creativity around.
Well, portals is all nice and stuff, but I would much rather see:
- Rotate work again
- Smartset->DateTaken support for pre-2005
- A place to submit bugreports
- Donate button (since you are throwing pro accounts around for free)
Personally, I wish I could do “Add Friend” right now.
Doesn’t seem to be working for me — it never saves, on IE or Firefox — only works if I say “Hey, that’s me. :(”.
Wow. What happened to my post?
greatings…
