Kristopher Tate and Zooomr were profiled in .Net Magazine a few months back. Today the magazine put the article up online for people to read. Kristopher talks about the history of Zooomr, what we’re working on and where we are headed. It’s a good interview piece. You can read the article here.

DuomoDuomo Hosted on Zooomr

One of our Zooomr photographers prophead just sent me a zmail asking if I knew of a good hotel to stay at in Florence, Italy. He’s heading there with his camera next year. I visited Italy about 3 years ago and visited Florence but stayed in the country in Tuscany. Anyone have a good recommendation for a good place to stay in Florence? Thanks to brad77 for the Florence photo above!

Autumn Leaf

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

So about a month ago Kristopher showed me this fantastic time lapse photography video. He got it somewhere but we didn’t know where online exactly. The music has no lyrics and so it was hard to try to search for it. But then we were driving back to my place after Tech Connection 4 and listening to Live 105 on the radio and this song comes on. It was kind of mystical almost, because in some ways the video and music above have been an inspiration for Zooomr — and having it come on at 1 am in the morning on a ride home when we were both in the car was surreal. We’ve both joked that what we need at the end of this video is just a big Zooomr logo that fades in and fades out. And after the song ended the DJ came on and said that it was Autumn Leaf and then a quick search on YouTube turned it up.

Anyways, check out the video. It’s great to see people doing such creative things with audio and photography. Hope you like it.

Thanks to elbaschid, moniamac and ranzino for finding the great treasures above.

Also a special shout out to the blog wisebread. Thanks for blogging about Zooomr!

Also, I wanted to take a minute to remind everybody of three easy things that you can do with your Zooomr account.

The first one is selecting an avatar. If you want a slick new avatar for your profile and when you post, simply look to the right of any photo detail page. Down on the lower right is an Extra Tools section where where you can turn any image that you are on into your avatar. If you don’t have an avatar yet and want one check it out.

The second thing is customizing your url. Since Zooomr assigns you a bland number/letter combo when you sign up you might want to reassign your url with your user name or some other handle. To do this, simply go to your “your account page” linked here. Once there you can change your url to anything you would like that has not been taken yet. This will make it easier for you to share and remember your url and to point people to your photostream.

The third thing you might want to do at Zooomr is enter in your city and country in which you live in on your profile page. You can access your edit profile page and enter this in here. When you have your city and country filled in your profile when you comment on other’s photos on Zooomr it tells people where you are from. I love that people from all over the world comment on my photos on Zooomr and it’s great getting to know where all of you are around the world.

Hey folks — I’m bringing Zooomr down for 30 minutes or so to update some code I’ve been working on and to update some server settings. :)

Thanks,
