Zooomr is Going Down for About an Hour [BACK ONLINE!]

9:26a.m., Updated, ok, that went faster than expected, thankfully, we are back up and online and things should be a little smoother the rest of the day. Thanks all for the patience.

We are going to take Zooomr down for about an hour while Kristopher makes a few changes to our system in order to address the load demand that we are having on our servers which was causing some of the photos not to show earlier this morning. The demand on our servers has been incredibly high, especially with more and more traffic coming in from China and Taiwan due to our new translations there.

Sorry about the inconvenienec and we will report back as soon as we are back online. We added one server yesterday and hopefully will add another later today in order to better address the traffic that Zooomr is generating. Thanks again for bearing with us.

Cool, thanks for the update, guys. One little thing…could you time stamp your blog entries? That would make it easier to know what the timetables are.

Sure Tim, I’ll look into changing the template.

I bet these are the kinds of headaches you want to have! More traffic is always a good thing! :-)

Congratulations on surviving your disaster and recuperating nicely. I’m sure it was distressing for all of you.

And thank you very much for the generous account upgrade!

Now I’ve got a question though– I’m noticing that the images I’ve posted (as public) in the last couple of days seem to be maxing out at a count of ‘20′ in the trackbacks. I’ve crossposted a couple of these to other LJ communities as well, just today.

Past experience has been that I have passed 20 trackbacks usually within a couple of *hours*, much less a couple of days.

This is a small thing to complain about, so I’m not really complaining so much as wondering… is this a new, sort of arbitrary limit, or is this a bug that has crept in somehow? Or am I imagining things and not realizing that I’m just suddenly not nearly as popular on livejournal as I was last week? ;)

BTW, the ‘Recent Activity’ feature does not seem to be functional for me either– before the crash or after, it won’t show me any sign of any kind of activity on my account. Wondering about that, too.

Thanks so much guys and good luck!
