Thanks to cmiper for building this helpful screen shot to show how to delete a geotag in Zooomr. Every so often people ask how can they can delete a geotag when they’ve put it in the wrong spot and want to retag it. If you click through the screen shot above cmiper documents how to do this with four notes on his image. A useful and helpful explanation. Thanks cmiper!

However, I’ve found myself needing to move a whole group together … is it possible?

Good job, @cmiper. There are, however, two issues with this method. One of which I tried, rather poorly, to address with my comment yesterday:

    1. TagMap will only show the first 175 photos tagged with at a given location. On occasion, this max is 225, but never more than that. If there are more photos at that location, you will not be able to navigate to the desired photo. Thus, you will not be able to delete geotagging for the desired photo.

This is a real problem for any place you take a lot of pictures, i.e. your home.

    2. For some reason Google Earth’s geotagging is a little off from Google maps. If you tag your photos with Google Earth, then upload them, they will not show up in the same place on Google Maps. I don’t know why this is, but it does happen. This is not Zooomr’s fault, but it does complicate things on Zooomr.

For instance, a user may upload 30 pics with bad geotagging (or even geotag to the wrong location on Zooomr). Now the problem is, how to move a bunch of photos with incorrect geotagging to the proper location. The only way I see is to delete geotagging on each individually, then re-geotag all of them. That’s not so bad for one or two photos, but becomes a real pain when you have a bunch.

ZTeam, I hope I’m making sense, if not email or zmail me for clarification.

@Oblomov - I have had to move a few (all of my home based photos) to a slightly less revealing location on the TagMap. The way I did it was that I first deleted the old Geotags from the photos that I wanted to move (as mentioned in the previous post). Then I set up 1 photo in the new location as an anchor. Turn OFF Geotagging while still in the TagMap and now you will see the anchor image. Click on it to open the Geotag bubble and then click on ADD(+) from the tabs and then add all the photos you want to move to that location.

I also found that using the “Refine by tags” option helps a lot.

Other than that, I dont see an easier way to do it…sorry. :(

@tim - For your first issue..can you zoom in really tight on the location to get as few images on the map as possible, then start deleting?

For your second issue…see what I mentioned to Oblomov above, you will have to click once for each photo to delete, and once for each photo to retag. It is the only way (currently) that I can see how to go about doing this.

@cmiper, for issue 1, yes I’m zoomed in all the way. I have several hundred photos at my home. There is no way to thumb through them in tagmap, because there are too many in one location. Like I indicated, only the first 175-225 are visible in tabmap.
For issue 2, I’ve actually done it that way before. Very tedious.

    Thanks for trying.

tim - if they are all in one location, why not delete what you can, then refresh the map…delete some more…repeat?

Feel free to Zmail me if you’d like, that way we don’t bore everyone else with our conversation. :D

@cmiper, I’ll zmail you. I assume you’re referring to issue 2. What you indicated is exactly what I did when a bunch of pics I had tagged using google earth showed up anywhere from 50 feet to 200 feet away from where they were supposed to be. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but when it’s showing up at the house next door or across the street or even down the street, it’s kind of a pain.

Ok, I figured it out. If there are more photos than will show in one location (in TagMap), you can reduce the photos shown by using SmartFilter. All you need to do is click the SmartFilter radio button, instead of the jump to button, and enter a tag for the photos you want to display. you can then delete the geotagging for the one you want.

ahhh…. good use of the smartfilter there tim! I hadn’t used that yet and was wondering what it’s uses were as well! thanks! :)

Not a prob, @Dana. cmiper updated his excellent screenshot with the smartfilter info.

Hi, can someone tell me how I remove a smartset and where I can get help from?

    Thanks.
