Post2.0 Mini Update

by Kristopher Tate | 20 July 2006 | Development | 27 Comments

Hey folks, I know there were some glitches with OpenID merging, so I spent most of yesterday talking with my colleagues on the OpenID front as long as working-out possible recovery scenarios.

Don’t worry, we’ve got your backs — I just want to make sure I get everything perfect so future problems do not occur.

Thanks,

Kristopher

Does the merge issue relate to some openID-based logins not verifying? :)

  2. Kristopher Tate said on 20 Jul 2006 at 4:46 am:

Not exactly — I solved some issues in the OpenID subsystems eariler today, so try your luck again. OpenID is relitively new, but there are some really talented people on the scene.

Regardless, expect an update soon. I don’t like to leave people hanging.

Thanks for posting an update on the issue. Great stuff! :D

@Kris - Unfortunately the TypeKey login is still failing. Just to make sure it wasn’t my end in the UK, I shelled in to a US server and used Lynx and got the same verification failed error :( Good luck with the bug hunting.

    Yes. Thanks for the update.

Just a heads up that the problem I (and others) described in the “We’re live” comments is still going.

When I log in with my OpenID it still takes me to an account created after the launch (13080@Z01) instead of my account from before the launch (wacko42). That old account was created via OpenID and that’s the only login method I’ve ever used here (so it’s not a matter of a Google or Livejournal account merge failure).

I know you’ll get it fixed as soon as you can. Just wanted to be sure you have all the info you need. If you do need any more (or need a guinea pig to see if the fix works) feel free to email.

    Hi Kris,

Seemed to have found a bug with the SmartSets.

When I first setup my smartset it was showing 50 pictures although I have more like 200 matching the criteria set.

Now I’m only seeing 15 photos. As I upload new photo’s and tag them with the required criteria for the smartset, older pictures are getting pushed out of the set.

    smartsets/gaz/241 is the set.

Hi Gareth, it’s already fixed in the dev builds — should go out soon or later tonight.

Any hint about merging an old early adopter Zooomr account with the new one created with openID?

    Jason,
You said that your original account was created via OpenID in the first place. So I’m wondering why you even used the merge process as you didn’t have anything to merge in the first place? Or are my sleepy eyes not reading what you wrote correctly? ;)

    Hello everybody,

    Great job!
    Zooomr 2.0 is excellent!
    Thank you very much.

    2 questions:
    - do you need some help for the french translation? I’d be happy if I can help you.
    - I do not understand how to allow ‘friends’ or ‘family’ to see my photos when I mark some photos as private for ‘friends’ or ‘family’.

    See you.

Hi Grégoire, thanks for your support!

We’ll let you know about the localization work, though about privacy settings, we’re working on making those easier to use. They should make much more sense in our next update.

    Thanks for your comment,

Thanks, I noticed those problems and was wondering about them

  15. Jason said on 20 Jul 2006 at 7:46 am:

    Dana,
Yep, still have a little sleep in your eyes ;) I didn’t use any merge process. Once the site was live I signed in using my OpenID just like I’d done before. I was then asked for a name and email address which I provided and a new account was created.

I too ended up with multiple accounts.

    11403@Z01 before z2
    13327@Z01 after z2

Yet, I only have one openid - McBLG97

Is this the proper forum to get help with admin problems like this? I didn’t see any other ‘help’ pages/links/etc…

Would love to get things ironed out so i can explore z2.

    Thanks Kristopher for your answer.

I have the same bug as BG :
    2 accounts.
Yesterday, I merged my Gmail access with my OpenID account, so now I have an account which I changed in ‘greggy’ but I lost some pictures on it. But I still can see those on the URL http://beta.zooomr.com/photos/10682@Z01

    Hi Kris,

    Thank you for the update.

Will that fix the limitation of 50 photos in the smartset also?

Very impressed with the geotagging in the latest version! Only problem is I’m spending too much time on Zooomr and not enough time doing my work!

    Cheers,
    Gareth

    Grégoire,
If you are already setting access levels on your pictures during upload. In the meantime it might be helpful to know how to allow people to access them. When you add people to your Social Circle (by viewing their Profile and there’s an option there) you have the option of making them Friends, Family, both, or none. That’s how to set the access level. The limitation is that I don’t think you can change it on the pictures or your social circle yet…. that’s what the next update will contain I believe!
    Cheers!

It’s looking fantastic. Two things aren’t quite working for me
    1. emails - none of mine have made it through, they seem to bounce about 12 hours later.

    2. picture rotations aren’t quite working right either.

i’m not sure if these are known issues, but just wanted to mention it.

  21. kad said on 20 Jul 2006 at 1:39 pm:

nope, still not working… my gmail and openid creds are not merged. Anyway we can consolidate these accounts? I really don’t mind if I have to click a button manually or input some extra data… I think this is happening to users from before Z2…

  22. MattStarr said on 20 Jul 2006 at 4:24 pm:

Hey Kris, good work on Z2 it looks great. Unfortunately my openId login seems to have been divorced from my actual account. I think it may have been merged with a google account I tried to set up months ago but abandoned in favour of an openID. Starrmania is my openID but MattStarr is the name on my account

but still when I enter info on pro page at, it doesn’t detect it. Please help.

    Hey Guys,

I like the work put into 2.0. Things are starting to look really good. Although I’m still having some account issues as well.

I first signed in using GPass and created an account. That account was made Pro …/photos/brianj. But I’ve never able to re-login to that account - ever. So I tried a few more times, each time it appears as if a new account was created.

Fast forward to the 2.0+ release and the merge feature. At this point if I ‘merge’ an account by using GPass, then enter my open ID login I access one of my accounts …./photos/bj

But if I use the same OpenID name without first going through GPass I am logged into one of the other accounts …/9189@Z01.

Needless to say I feel like I’m going in circles at times. I’d really like to be able to log into the /photos/brianj account and just have the others removed. If that can’t happen then /photos/bj would be my account of choice. Can anyone help?

    There is an error too.

    See you!
