Sending Our Love to Bloggers: 2.5GB 4GB Free Pro Accounts
Thomas posted a little while back that we’re giving free Pro accounts to Bloggers. And, well, we still are — to be quite frank, it’s going very well.
But, Thomas and I have been thinking lately about rewarding bloggers further. So, we’re announcing today that we’re giving any blogger around (that includes our LiveJournal, Xanga and MySpace buddies too!) free 2.5GB Pro Accounts. That folks is the ability to transfer over 1700 photos per month to Zooomr for free.
So, what’s the skinny on all of this?
1) Sign-up for a free Zooomr account:
2) Upload at least one photo to get things started:
3) Find and copy the handy blog post code we provide by clicking on “All Sizes” and then proceeding to copy said handy code:
4) Post the handy code to your blog and make sure that your new Zooomr accompanied post has your photo from Zooomr on it.
5) Here’s the magic part: claim your blog on Zooomr’s Proitizer page by entering-in your blog post’s URL:
6) Enjoy your new-found 2.5GB/mo. Zooomr Pro account.
As always, please comment if any issues come-up and I can manually take-care of some problems that may occur.

I will never transfer over 1700 photos in a month. I don’t think I’ve taken 1700 photos in my life. With that said, I’ve never had the opportunity to do so. Thanks Zooomr. Y’all rock.

Thanks guys for a great promo and an even better service.
A question, though: do you require photos used in blogs to be linked to the Zooomr photo page?
I use Lightbox in my site so I link the smaller images to its larger versions. Is this allowed in Zooomr? If it isn’t, would you reconsider if the Lightbox window that opens contains a link to the Zooomr photo page? Thanks.

Hi Max, I saw your post a bit back — cool.
So as it stands, we require there be a link to Zooomr somewhere on the page, but as long as you’re sharing the love, I don’t think we’ll have any problems.
In all seriousness, all it really takes is a side-link or badge. I’m working on some blog badges, but until then, just have us somewhere on the site. I hope that we’re not asking too much.

I’d love to get back to enjoying my Pro account that I got a week before the “upgrade”. But with the continued OpenID issues that don’t seem to be addressed, I can no longer log into that account.

If you get a spare second, would you be able to tell me why I am unable to get a pro account? There’s a link to Zooomr on my sidebar, a link in the post, and 3 photos in the post, but the Proitizer returns “Sorry, we couldn’t find a Zooomr photo on your blog!” I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Jean-Pierre, that is not a valid openID. Just like a URL, your ID will not have spaces in it.
Let me look into your account to see what ID you’re using — I’ll follow-up via email.

Well, I’ve been having some account problems logging in to the original account that has been setup as a Pro Account. So, I now have a second account that I’ve uploaded to and linked to my blog. But the proitzier hasn’t been able to verify a Zooomr link.

Well, thanks for the upgrade, guys. I have a Nokia N80 on its way to me next week, so some mobile photo-uploading may well be in order, what with all that tasty bandwidth. But that raises a question: does emailing pix take up the same bandwidth as normal upload?
And the other, in some ways more important question: are you going to have an automatic blogging system, as you’re so pro-blogger and everything? You know, something like (but better than) a feature I may possibly have seen at another (less generous) photo-share site, a feature that promises much but doesn’t go all the way it could do?
How totally rad would it be if I could moblog through Zoomr straight to Velcro-City, complete with text and tags and all? Very rad, that’s how rad. Maybe a bit of a tall order, but I’d love some sort of automated blogging feature here, it would make it a first-rung tool of choice very quickly.

Firstly, thanks very much for offering this. This is a superb idea and I appreciate it very much.
Secondly, the proitizer page isn’t working for me. I typed in my blog post’s url where I posted the pictures using the zooomr code. You can check yourself here: http://maxbronfman.blogspot.com/2006/07/logos-redesigned-for-web-20.html
The proitizer tells me that it can’t find a zooomr photo in that blog post, but there are around 10. Do you know what the problem may be?

What happens after that year is over. Will you do like flickr, limit those who don’t pay to seeing only the last 200 photos? If you would do that then there would be little reason for me to switch. I want all my pictures to be available, not only the last 200.

I’ve just experienced the same prob, but it’s easily solved.
If I’m not wrong, you used the static image URL, and used whatever photo inserter your blog uses in order to insert your photo. Is that right?
If so, I’m afraid you need to use the actual HTML code that Zooomr supplied. (Or, if you’re a bit of a hacker in HTML, you can just go and replace the one essential piece of info that the Proitizer requires.
In mine, the code I HAD was the URL of the actual immage, ending in ‘.jpg’.
The correct code is href=”http://beta.zooomr.com/photos/royblumenthal/164723/”
Find your equivalent after the word ‘href’ in the html of your blog post. It probably has ‘.jpg’ after it.
Then replace it with the address of the picture page on Zooomr.
Then resubmit the permalink of that particular blog post to the Proitizer, and it should work.

Thanks for the kind offer. I’ve just gotten myself a Zooomr Pro account, and I’m mostly happy with it.
It still has a little way to go before it replaces Flickr as a community, and it’s not all that clear what ‘portals’ are.
Whatever the case, it’s an awesome site, and it’s gunna go far. Especially seeing as it’s friendly to artists.
One way to make it more friendly to artists is to change the tagline on the homepage to: ‘Experience the world through Pictures’.
The word ‘photos’ is a little off-track if you’re aiming at including artists from the start.
And it raises the spectre of you guys doing to artists what Flickr is doing to artists.
So I’m hoping that you’ll address that.

Ok, Im having tons of trouble and really need to know who to contact.
Issue: I’ve gotten my pro account (thanks so much btw!) and wanted to upload some pics with the juploader.
