Like a Dog That’s Just Been Beaten

Well that’s how it feels when you work really hard for something for weeks just to have some bully kick sand in your face in the end. Yeah, we most likely will not be launching tonight and that sucks. I guess it goes with the territory when you’re a small start up. All of your photos are safe and your blogged photos will still work. We just need to stop this attack before we will be able to go back online.

Sorry to all of you and we’ll still be down here at 365 Brannan St. tonight talking about Zooomr. Come on down and enjoy a beer with us. We will be back and a lot stronger when we can and in the end as a wise man once said, “that which doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.”

some people just don’t deserve the priveleges that they have…..an unwarranted and unnecessary attack on us zooomr-ites….

we hates them, Precious. Oh yes, we really do.

Mind my ignorance, but don’t you have an httpd with the code running on your laptop?

On a second note, if they are hitting just beta.zooomr.com remove the dns entry and create a new one so you can present it. At least the zombies won’t get a resolved ip.

Otherwise wish I’d have known it was going on or I’d have stopped by to wish ya luck!

[…] Well is appears that Zooomr has encountered some bumps in the road in travelling to their 2.0 upgrade. It sucks that it appears that most of their problems (at least as they report them) appear to be DoS attacks. If it is truly Dos related, who initiated the attacks? I find it hard to believe that a competitor in the photo sharing market would be directly responsible. What I wouldn’t find hard to believe is that is could be a cooridinated effort for the users of a competitor’s photo sharing service. It’s all speculation, but the internet is mostly about guessing and gossip these days (or so it appears) so that’s just my guess. […]

Man, some people are jerks, not just talking about the DoS here.

Sorry I missed the party, by the time I got out of work I was running late for Fire Arts, so I had to skip out on Zooomr 2.0.

I wish the best of stuffs to all off you, and if you have some free time totally drop by West Oakland, as fire fixes everything!

I hope you succeed in stopping the attack soon, and when you do please blog a picture of you all with a smile on your faces. You are looking way too serious in the pictures you have posted so far. ;-)

    Good luck!!!

    BTW:
I don’t mind waiting a few days or more.

Obviously someone has very powerfull anservers and lots of ‘em.
A 36 hour DOS already? Erm, even FBI, Nasa or MS have never been subject of this.

Little by little the Zooomr hype is already fading for me.

(D)DoS? Is it also stopping them from posting something about the launch?

This is frustrating. It’s july 16th, zooomr has been down for what now, 3-4 days? and the last post you guys made was two days ago? Where are you guys?

  41. Thomas Hawk said on 16 Jul 2006 at 1:00 pm:

We don’t want to disappoint and although we think we have the DOS attack behind us at this point, we need to beef a few things up so that it won’t happen again. Hang in there. As soon as we have what we feel is a reliable ETA we will share it with you.

Thanks all for your patience and understanding.
