Things to do while waiting for Zooomr 2

Until Zooomr 2 is here, I just wanted to let people who haven’t used LightMap or who might not know what it is know about a really awesome blog entry by Mark, one of Zooomr’s users, on how to use LightMap. Read “How to GeoTag with Zooomr“.

The other thing is that our Trackback system is now directly tied with our static delivery system. What does that mean? It means that our recent trackbacks page is even more fresh than ever.

Enjoy,

Excellent tutorial, thanks for posting that Kris. A couple points: I would like to update a geotag to make its location more precise however it is not very apparent as I can’t figure out how to update/delete the current geotag (or else I’m just too tired!) Second, like somebody mentioned it would be nice to be able to geotag several relavant pictures to one particular location so we don’t have to go through the same process for each picture.
Keep up the great work and looking forward to Zooomr 2!

Yes, zooomr 2 definitely needs ways to work with large amounts of photos at the same time - like, not having to zoom in to the same location for photos taken from the same place or photos taken from very similar places, being able to tag a bunch of photos to the same place at the same time, and photo sets. and maybe groups and global photo sets. and maybe all sorts of awesome stuff that’s doubtlessly gonna turn up.

  3. Dana S. Says:

Well from what I hear through the grapevine as well as the horse’s mouth, zooomr 2 will have all those things you mention Tobias. There will be a new geotagging utility (I forget the name) that will hopefully handle all those methods of tagging.
The sets (SmartSets) will definitely be worth the wait as well, trust me!
What do you mean by global photo sets by the way?

  4. Tobias Butler Says:

By global photo sets I mean an equivalent to flickr’s “pools.”

  5. Spinfist Says:

I think Tobias is referring to Flickr’s Groups feature. When a photo is submitted to a group, other members of that group can add notes, information, tags, etc, but the normal security settings are retained for everyone else viewing it. (The only place I was able to find mention of “pools” was a brief blurb in Flickr’s FAQ.)

See underneath “HDR (Set),” a lot of photo pools. I think this is a cool feature.

  7. Spinfist Says:

It is a great feature. I haven’t played with pools much, I may have to start… :-)
