A Surprise at the Top of the Mountain
Hey Everyone! Thanks for being so patient with me.
Zooomr is slated to reactivate at 10am PDT on Monday the 22nd of this month. You’ll notice some new stuff that won’t be Zooomr 2, but will prove to be uplifting — speed aside.
I would have all of this up sooner except that AT&T/SBC took their merry time to connect-up the Zooomr HQ — Up until now, I’ve been working off of Sprint’s PCS Vision connection, which has been more than a little tiring.
Regardless, I hope everyone enjoys the surprise at the top of the mountain.
Thanks,
Kristopher Tate

Doesn’t appear to work (display the pic) from a mac using safari or firefox. Any idea why?

Sorry, what does not work? I’m on a Mac right now, so let me know.

Is the new server a dedicated setup or shared?

@Cody Mays
Odds are that it’s dedicated, but it could possibly be a shared. I think that it’s an entire server rack.

Well, it appears these comments are approved via the wordpress admin control panel, so he doesn’t want to say.
After doing some research from the beta.zooomr.com/about in google’s cache, it definately appears that there are multiple servers. He’s got a reverse proxy going (I’m assuming it’s for beta.zooomr.com). So there is definitely more than one box, but it could also be for the database server(s). Oh well, always fun to make guesses.

Hi Guys, Zooomr is completely dedicated.
Sorry I haven’t been able to get more comments posted, I’ve been very busy lately with the above

Phew! Zooomr is gonna be backup tomorrow! Good job and I’m quite curious to see what’s new…. You’ve always kept us filled with interesting features… Here are some of my suggestions for the next update
1) A Feedback Link below everysingle page so members can communicate their ideas to you.
2) A feature to directly upload images from a given URL
3) Groups
4) User Connection/Bonding
5) Comments from Non-Zooomr users possible on pix!
Waiting till tomorrow!

Hey, especially no. 5 would be nice to have. I know this restriction might help to get registrations. But it would be still nice to be able to leave comments if you are not loged in.
hope that’s one of the new features!
Users could switch this feature on or of.
Plus a bulk upload with a little java or flash applet would be also nice.
Can’t wait any longer!

Awesome stuff, Kristopher! Only thing is, Inspector doesn’t seem to work properly for me.. running firefox. I dig the slanted logo. Are we going to see some photo organization tooks a la Flickr? Those would be awesome. Great job!
