Dear Gareth,
Adoption, that's where it starts gettin tricky. At the moment it is not widely adopted, and the documentation on the website is not very good. Making the adoption not easier. BTW, I am having a degree in computer science and still did't 100% understand the docu. So at the moment it makes the log-on even more dificult and adds one more step to the process (specifying the myopenID). Maybe "it sucks" was a little to harsh for some inovative idea wich is still in its infancy. Sorry for that, had a bad day yesterday. I simply would be happy to see a second, "traditional" authentication mechanism for users coming from other services which do not "yet" support openID.
The guys and girls around openID would be well advised to add a little more end-user support to the website. Not beeing totaly stupid (at least I am conviced so), I had a hard time using it in the beginning and I didn't find any help on their website. Basicaly I forgot to note down the whole URL. I always tried it with xxx.openID.com instead of xxx.myopenID.com, and couldn't find it anywhere on the website. A better docu would raise the acceptance among users considerably and will make provider less reluctant to adopt it.
Hope somebody from openID will read this, as they didn't reply to my mail ;)

A wonderful day to all zooomers.

Cheers,

Markus

P.S.: When will be the servers back on again. I miss my most favourite webservice ;)

Disagree completely on OpenID. What are the specific reasons why it "sucks".

OpenID's main challenge is adoption. Once it is adopted by a wide variety of service providers, the benefits of a secure, single-sign-on will be great.

Hi everybody.
i like this service very much and much better then Flickr or something comparable. just what really anoys me is the availability of your servers. Hope this is getting much better after the move and even better with zooomr 2. really looking forward to that.
and yea, please make another log-in mechanism available. sorry to say that but openID sucks.

So keep up the good work.

I was also wondering what had happened. I suppose it was not my day. I had posted some pictures of my new black MacBook to Zooomr right before it went down. I then linked to my photos page via a blog and down went Zooomr. I'm glad to know that they are available from the static page and that all is well.

Regards,
Jon
