Things to do while waiting for Zooomr 2

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

Until Zooomr 2 is here, I just wanted to let people who haven’t used LightMap or who might not know what it is know about a really awesome blog entry by Mark, one of Zooomr’s users, on how to use LightMap. Read “How to GeoTag with Zooomr“.

The other thing is that our Trackback system is now directly tied with our static delivery system. What does that mean? It means that our recent trackbacks page is even more fresh than ever.

Enjoy,

Kristopher Tate

Why hello there Mr. Speed!

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

I just wanted to let people know that Zooomr is now officially 600x faster than the first day we released it. Go check it out, I just flipped the switch on the new code.

As a reward to everyone who has been patient with us, I have just turned on the new site this morning at 3am.

Please check it out and be sure to report back.

Enjoy,

A Surprise at the Top of the Mountain

Friday, May 19th, 2006

Hey Everyone! Thanks for being so patient with me.

Zooomr is slated to reactivate at 10am PDT on Monday the 22nd of this month. You’ll notice some new stuff that won’t be Zooomr 2, but will prove to be uplifting — speed aside.

I would have all of this up sooner except that AT&T/SBC took their merry time to connect-up the Zooomr HQ — Up until now, I’ve been working off of Sprint’s PCS Vision connection, which has been more than a little tiring.

Regardless, I hope everyone enjoys the surprise at the top of the mountain.

Thanks,

Kristopher Tate

Zooomr is Currently Hiking

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the abrupt notice, as Zooomr is currently hiking to a new data center. Many of you have waited long for this day to arrive, and it seems like it was only yesterday when we first caught the public’s eye.

Expect to see Zooomr 2 launch in June, but just know that right now thousands of photos are hiking over the Internet to our new, much faster infrastructure in our new data center.

Please do not worry about your photos, as they are perfectly safe. Our photo storage server at static.zooomr.com will remain online with all of your photos in-case you are sharing them via your blog or website. The main site will be down for at least 24 hours as I work on cleaning-up all loose-ends.

I will be sure to share more information as it becomes available.

Thanks,

Kristopher Tate

Zooomr Update Imminent

Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the silence, rest assured that there is a lot of amazing stuff going behind-the-scenes at Zooomr HQ. Lots of new stuff on the horizon — I’ll be able to comment on it all soon enough.

Until then, thank-you for understanding.
