Photo Trackback

by Kristopher Tate | 3 April 2006 | Announcements | 25 Comments

I was talking with Thomas Hawk this morning and he started to talk to me about features the flickr folks have neglected to implement — a perfect test for Zooomr and the BlueNote Framework.

Thomas: Blogging a photo is one thing, tracking viewership something else entirely.
Kristopher: Give me 15 more minutes and you will see refers.
Thomas: wow.

The result is something I’m calling “Photo Trackbacks”. Most people in the blogging community know what trackbacks are, now you can see what’s going on with where your photos are posted. Results are given directly under comments in a handy list; nothing is shown if no trackbacks have occured.

I’m planning on growing this out into something bigger soon, hopefully forming some sort of analytics end to Zooomr.

In either case, all of this should prove to be interesting.

    Kris,

I think you can check out the example in the main page.

Kris, this is a tremendous idea, brilliant to the core!! As a blogger, I’m really excited that Zooomr has provided us such an innovative feature. Keep it up dude??

P.S:: @Kris: Did you recieve my email, gmail was kinda acting up for me and I didn’t want to flood your inbox.

    Cheers!

I’m amazed with the speed of progress, too. In particular, I like the lightmaps and the all of the meta-data that can be associated with pictures. You really are proving Graham right in what he said about the productivity differentials between top and mediocre programmers.

BTW, is there any place where we can give feedback, bug reports, etc? I love the service, but I’ve hit a snag with some of my tags not being found while trying to geotag pics.

[…] The other thing is that our Trackback system is now directly tied with our static delivery system. What does that mean? It means that our recent trackbacks page is even more fresh than ever. […]

    Zoomr invente les photo trackbacks

Zoomr est un concurrent de Flickr qui innove à la vitesse grand v. A surveiller ! Pour preuve, la notion de trackback des photos vient dapparaître. Quand quelquun poste une de vos photos, je ne suis pas sûr que vous en soyiez informé. Avec le track…

Hello there Kristopher! This probably isn’t the right place to leave such a comment - so if it isn’t responded to I’ll just email the feedback team - but I was wondering if you plan to either drop Trackbacks into the Recent Activity page or provide a seperate trackback list for each user at some point.

I’ve uploaded over 900 images (with plenty more on the way) and have 37 trackbacks… but can’t tell who’s linked me without looking at each individual image, right?

My internet search so far has yielded no info on how to actually track trackbacks, save only for the entire Zooomr community’s recent trackback page.
