Attention Developers

Hey everyone, good stuff to talk about today. As I briefly announced at SFWIN last week, Zooomr now supports the Flickr API.

What does this mean?

This means that all of the thousands of libraries and applications available for flickr can be used with Zooomr with just a few quick modifications. Here’s what’s required:

Changing the following URL endpoints to their new endpoints on Zooomr:

http://flickr.com to http://beta.zooomr.com

/services/auth to /auth
/services/upload to /bluenote/api/upload
/services/rest to /bluenote/api/rest

Some Caveats

Yes, there are some caveats so-far to Zooomr picking-up the Flickr API. First is that it is not 100% complete. For the most part, only upload and photo look-up services are available. Here is a list of all working methods:

Auth

  • flickr.auth.checkToken
  • flickr.auth.getFrob
  • flickr.auth.getFullToken
  • flickr.auth.getToken

contacts

  • flickr.contacts.getPublicList

people

  • flickr.people.getUploadStatus

photos

  • flickr.photos.addTags
  • flickr.photos.delete
  • flickr.photos.getCounts
  • flickr.photos.getInfo
  • flickr.photos.getPerms
  • flickr.photos.getSizes
  • flickr.photos.removeTag
  • flickr.photos.setTags

photosets

  • flickr.photosets.getList

tags

  • flickr.tags.getListPhoto

test

  • flickr.test.echo

Second, if you would like a key to use the API or have any questions, shoot an email to zooomrapi@bbridgetech.com. I have also recompiled Steve Cohen’s awesome jUploadr upload utility to be used with Zooomr based on the above info. You can pick them up here.

Lastly, There are many new innovations that are well underway that I’m pushing to get out by next month. You’ll see some of them pop-though ever so subtly — but most of it is so new that I can’t just fit it into the old system.

Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to say that there is a lot going on.

Thanks,

Kristopher Tate

Good to see some one else going for open shared non-vendor specific api’s.

You can see our current flickr api support here http://23hq.com/doc/api/.

Mail me if you want to collaborate on getting 3rd party developers focus on this.

  2. Tom Says:

Now that you have a handle on the flickr API, how about implementing an import from flickr to zooomr. I’d gladly move my photos here if I didn’t have to upload them all over again and retag them.

  3. scohen Says:

Would you like to make zooomr more of an official option in jUploadr?

    I can’t promise 1.0, but I can certainly make it in 1.1.

  4. ash Says:

is there a linux version of juploadr? i’d love to have it and share it among a bunch of users…

  5. ash Says:

a zooomr’d version of juploadr, i mean. there are only mac and win32 versions at

[…] Zooomr scores in almost of all the departments from my own personal experiences. It’s simplicity is it’s biggest advantage but at the same time, sophistication is found within the simplicity. Don’t get me? Try Zooomr out, you’ll see what I mean! Zooomr’s design is the best example for what I mean, the design is simple but definitely sleek and attractive. It does not have the Plain-jane looks of Flickr but at the same time does not overwhelm you. Another thing notable is Zooomr’s learning curve. Simply put, it has none. That darn easy! There are tons of other brilliant features which make Zooomr stand out like a bright ball of determined fire - Flickr’s API, Lightbox, Inspector, Localization, P-2-P Association (Person to Photo, not the software!), Zooomrtation and tons more that I can’t find the space to fit! Ofcourse, if speed is your criteria, Zooomr cannot be touched. […]

I can not get juploadr for zooomr, the link is broken. Anyone knows a mirror or where can I get it? I think it is a very needed tool

    Thanx for the great work.

  8. Kenny Says:

I’ve been looking hard for juploadr for zooomr as well. If anyone knows where we can get it… that would be very helpful.

    Thanks

Just to give this some more weight: I’d like to get my hands on that juploadr version, too…

    Me too

  11. James Deville Says:

For all of you wanting to get jUploadr, go to the Sourceforge site and download it, it appears as if the main developer is fully supporting this as well.

[…] To go with the move I’ve also made a new release, 2.0.4 which contains methods for supporting adding/editing comments on photos and photosets. Is the email address (zooomrapi@bbridgetech.com) still the correct way to request keys? I’ve sent a couple emails, but am wondering if that got through any spam filters, etc….

I’m writing a Picture Post (upload) plugin for WLW and would like to add Zooomr support…

    Thanks,
    Greg

  15. Paul S. Says:

Still waiting patiently for API Key ;) emailed zooomrapi@bbridgetech.com to ask on Dec. 6th. My photos have extensive XMP/IPTC written into them from iView Mediapro. Zooomr isn’t reading that on upload. I don’t want to tag them again by hand and duplicate my effort. I can do this work very simply if I have API access.

  16. Welbach Says:

Well yeah, there seems to be a problem to get Zooomr api keys, several developers report not being able to get one through this method. I wish to create a native uploader for windows (not java) for my personal use and, if I get it right, make available to everyone. But I just don’t have acces to the api yet.

  17. Greg Says:

There any update on getting Zooomr keys? How do we get keys? Been hoping for a couple months to write a Windows Live Writer Plugin for Zooomr, but with no key, no joy. (Actually I have a working Plugin already and it works fine with Flickr and 23hq, but I’d really like to support Zooomr too… Just need a Key)…

Can you please provide some guidance, status, anything to let us know what’s going on related to Keys?

    Thank you

  18. anon Says:

Getting an API key from flickr for personal use took under 5 minutes. If only the same could be said for zooomr.

  19. herrmueller Says:

Hellooooooo? Zooomr? This is getting absolutely ridiculous! I’ve been waiting for a key for half a year now…

  20. Anon Says:

It’s too bad as I’d like to make use of some of the other tools out there - like the Flickr screensaver and such.

If Zooomr’s not giving out any additional API keys - is there anyone out there willing to share theirs?

  21. Gabrielli Says:

It sounds like you’re creating problems yourself by trying to solve this issue instead of looking at why their is a problem in the first place.
