What’s in a name, anyway?

Around the time Zooomr was just getting off the ground, a long time friend of mine, Skye Skjelset, wanted to know what “Zooomr” really meant.

Recently, many more people have been asking the same question. Here’s what I had said to Skye:

Skye: what does this zooomr stuff even mean
Kris: Huh?
Skye: zooomr
Skye: why three o’s and what does zooomr even mean
Kris: It has to do with speed. The idea that one can zooom through photos and pictures easily, finding stories, memories, and people — all through photos.
Skye: but why THREE O’s?
Skye: visuals?
Kris: zoomr.com was taken
Skye: haha
Kris: haha,
Skye: also a good reason
Kris: We have zooomr.com
Kris: and also, it’s 6 chars, and not 5
Skye: is that better?
Kris: balance
Kris: Zoomr looks too short as a name
Kris: Zooomr looks better, actually

And there you have it.

You’re obviously intelligent folks, and you’ve got a brilliant app here, and so I am bewildered at your use of “anyways”.

When I first saw it on your “about” page, I thought maybe it was a typo overlooked, but here it is again.

I mean surely you know this is baby-talk, that it’s not a word. The word is “anyway”.

Thanks for your kind words Godfrey,

I can’t be exact on where you are from, but I can say that from growing-up in Washington State and in living on the West coast of America, that I am more used to how we use American English.

I try to be as correct or generic as possible with my English as to not offend anyone, but sometimes old habits die hard.

“Anyways,” is just how we keep a conversation alive out here. If my usage has irked or offended you, my sincerest apologies! I try to use English in the best possible manner and will try to refrain from using “Anyways,” too much. :)

    Thanks again!
