Zooomr Contact & Status built right in In the height of Level9’s development, I realized something: People, Presence, and Status are all related and should be treated as such. I did something bold and now on our new Zooomr people pages you’ll see something much like what is displayed on the left. It’s smart, simple, and let’s you know exactly what’s going on from a glance — Tooltips and all.

So, add your friends, find other people’s photos and Happy New Year 2006!

An Interview

Thursday, December 29th, 2005

I took the time to sitdown with Eoban Binder as he interviewed me about Zooomr. From the article:

This week AppleXnet interviews Kristopher Tate, creator of a new photo-sharing service called Zooomr. I met Kristopher a couple of weeks ago and decided to help him localise Zooomr into French; during that time, I became interested in Zooomr itself and its potential to change photo-sharing on the internet for the better.

It’s a fun read. Check it out here.

Zooomrtations Preview So, it was 2 weeks ago when I was playing with my Canon Powershot Pro1 and I realized that it has this cool audio annotation feature. So, I was thinking of how I could integrate it into Zooomr, and lo-and-behold, I did and it looks great. You can see the easy to use interface on the left and a demo of Zooomrtations on my photo catalogue here. Press play and let the moment touch your senses. Neat, huh? Zooomrtation Icon And, if that wasn’t enough for you, I even built-in Zooomrtation Icons into the views for your distinct viewing pleasure. It’s easy to navigate through photos this way.

Thomas AnderssonWell, the other thing I’m proud to announce is that Thomas Andersson of Sweden has joined the Zooomr team as a localizer. He’s a really nice and articulate guy who really understands what Zooomr is about — Welcome, Thomas!

Well everyone, that’s all for now. If you haven’t already done so by now, make sure that you’ve put your name on our beta test program.

What a response!

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

Within the first 2 hours of our first post here on the Zooomr Blog, we have received over 40 beta inquiries! This is really cool for us.

Of course, we’re going to try to get as many people in as we possibly can, but if you’re really interested, be sure to get your place in line!

If you’re in the dark about what I’m talking about, read the first post here or go directly to the Zooomr Beta sign-up page — we’d love to have you!

Time to go back to work,

Hello, World — Literally!

Wednesday, December 21st, 2005

Welcome to the Zooomr Blog!

What do we mean by “Hello, World — Literally”? Well, you first might like to know what Zooomr is in the first place! Zooomr is a Photo Sharing Website with a strong social community element — but it goes further than that, and here’s why: We’re currently localized in 5 languages (Chinese, English, French, Japanese, & Spanish) and we’re looking to gain two more (German & Korean).

But that’s not all we’re looking for. We’re looking for people like yourself to beta test our fine software.

We’ve been working hard for the last two months and the enthusiasm to launch Zooomr is immense. We can’t wait to have you onboard.

But wait, where do I sign-up?

Glad you asked! Follow this nifty link and fill-out our web form. If you get accepted, we’ll more than let you know!

Well, there was post No. 1 …

Have a happy and safe holiday season,

Kristopher Tate
